Charles has had a brilliant and fulfilling career. Inspired very early by his uncle, the late reggae legend - Bob Marley, Charles started his career in music. Working with the likes of LL Cool J to EPMD, Charles went on to release his own single on a major label.
After the birth of his son, Charles caught the "acting bug" and began booking many roles in film and television. Within his journey in the spotlight, Charles played the title role in "The Summer of Ben Tyler," with famed actors James Wood and Elizabeth McGovern. This led him to his nomination for best supporting actor for the portrayal of Ben Tyler.
Wanting to raise his son as a single father, Charles left California to settle in Florida. Soon after, a suggestion from his son, The Poor Chef brand was born. Healthy meals for a mere seven dollars. With Charles' background in cooking, instilled by his Caribbean heritage, and his will to raise his son alone, he aimed to share his passion for affordable and easy meals. This soon took off with appearances on major talks shows around the country from CNN to Dr. Oz and more. The brand soon expanded into cookbooks, sauces, spice lines and public appearances all over the world.
It wasn't until the life changing news of Charles' Type II Diabetes diagnosis, that Charles saw a need to not only educate and save his own life, but the lives of others also needed a voice. Over the past few years, Charles has become a major advocate for diabetes and other pressing conditions. He’s also a published author with the American Diabetes Association and has been named a Blue Circle Champion for the International Diabetes Association.
After he created and directed the first ever diabetes reality doc-u series, Reversed, his production company has taken a focus on producing captivating films and tv series based on health and wellness. His brand is sought out around the world for his life changing work and passionate perspectives. Charles also created the first ever diabetes testing RV unit, with the concept of free diabetes testing for the public.
Charles has plans to open a diabetes and wellness retreat in Jamaica, while also in production stages of Reversed, Season 2. Charles is also in the works with his new "spin-off," Reversed- HIV. His film "The Diabetic You" will be available soon worldwide and his other, award winning film "Trial By Fire," based on his mother’s rare disease (CRPS), is currently being seen around the world in over 21 countries. He hopes his vast work in advocacy will help those who need a voice and allow those voices to be heard from his film and television accomplishments.
